i was planning on swapping a new motor on for this next build......but im pretty lazy and getting a truck and hoist etc is a pain for me. so, i took the head off my gt motor with 210k miles on it. i ran that bitch hard for about 3 months, running 20psi daily on a to4b s trim. the headgasket obviously failed cause i was eating coolant through the exhaust. but the car still dynoed 300whp, and still had no signs of cracked ring lands, or lost compression. so i figured i'd look at it and see if its salvagable
the pistons have a lil bit of dirt and coolant in em from pulling the head off, but they look great in person. my compression is still decent at 120 across, which is good for the mileage and altitude i am at. combustion chamber looked pretty good too, with the exception of cyl #2 where the headgasket failed. you can see it got fairly cooked haha
i cant really tell the exact spot of where the headgasket failed, but the general area is obvious
so reason i post this thread is that i do believe a 300whp, stock f2t motor, daily driver can be done reliably with only a good fuel tune, and somewhat stock timing. i was running pump gas with no control over timing, and a fmu w bleeders for fuel control. this was also done with a zombie chip which has an unknown timing advance in there. i did have to keep my a/f ratio's in the 10s though, otherwise it would knock. i think the headgasket just failed cause it was old, and i was beating on it real good that night

but who knows...
i think im gonna get the head shaved some to make sure it is true, and raise the compression a bit. i hope to put this 210K mile motor back on the road to see some more boost, and 350whp
