you can see the lines of carbon black tracking toward the coolant hole....but the gasket itself doesnt look like there is any signs of burning as such.

My guess is that there was too much pressure in the cylinder for the gasket...it needs to be torqued down more...which migh not be enough, or O-ring the head to help containg the pressure.
