Haha, very true. My pistons and rods cost almost twice that. I am looking into ceramic ball bearing turbos and they run almost $1200. I also have a motor built for boost that's got around 9k of work and parts into it. I'm a firm believer of doing things right the first time. If it's too expensive to do it the right way there's no point in doing it because when things break you won't have money to fix them.
The ZE is a good alternative to boost if you're on a low budget.
