I have a few points to make and BTW I thought the movie was totally horrible.

1) They do explain why the trees caused this people to commit suicide.
The plants let out toxins as a defense when the feel there is a threat. Is this case they felt humans were a threat to earth thus releasing toxins to fend off the threat.
And why did it last only just over or under 24hrs.

2) The story was lost many times through out the movie. The explaination in the movie said that the toxins (not direct quote) "Disable the sensors in your brain that prevent you from doing harm to yourself". That was total okay with me but this is what kinda pisses me off about it and how the story gets lost.
A) Why does it cause the humans to become zombie like.
B) Why does everyone go on self killing sprees.

Neither would happen if all it does is make you not have that sense to not commit self pain. You would still have common sense and reason. You wouldn't turn into a walking zombie obsessed with suicide. You would still feel pain and wouldn't hurt yourself.

3) The movie had a weak ending and really didn't try to "save" the movie in anyway. Their could have been some sort of turn around for people to say Okay it all makes sense or something.

The movie had a good concept but was poorly put together. It would have made more sense if the toxins made people try to kill off eachother. The only logical ending would have been for everyone to die. That would have made sense.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. And once again I leave myself saying I'm never seeing one of his movies again!! I should have listened to myself after The Village!!!
