I completely agree. I'd love for Australia to be more like Singapore...with $50 fines for dropping cigarette butts, death/life prison for all drug traffickers, $500 for littering. But, the Australian government are too scared to go back to a tough stance. They'd argue it'd place more and more pressure on an already overcrowded prison system. I've had my wallet and rent stolen...I've had a brand new bike i shipped over from Japan stolen...hell, i have mates in the mazda club who have had mazda parts stolen as they've sent them to each other. Basically, without taking the law into our own hands, there's not much we can do. Which means we can bitch and moan as much as we like, but the probability of things changing is still virtually nil. The best thing you can do, is to prevent (as much as you can) the risk and exposure of your possessions to being stolen. That sounds very self-centered...but in this world, if you don't look after yourself, then not many other people will.
