4x4 help!
ok I am sorry for asking about a non mazda problem, but i am really stuck!
I have a Ford Maverick, its a 2.7TDi, P reg. First, the problem I have is a faulty CKP sensor (fault codes suggests faulty or incorrect signal). I bought a second user part from a breakers, and believed it to be good. Fitted it today, went for a short drive, came home, revved it to 3/4kRPM, as I let off the pedal, the MIL light came on again, lost a bit of power, but steadied and didnt cut out. car idled away normall. re checked the codes, got code 47 back, which is the ckp sensor incorrect signal one.!!
Now I understand that it could well be another faulty ckp sensor, but i want to check the other suggestion- incorrect signal, which suggests an open circuit. I have no idea how to test wires properly using a multimeter, but i did have a go, and did get anywhere near the 900 ohms i am supposed to get through the wire for the ckp sensor.
This particular wire is odd. The wire that comes from the sensor connector is the usual bronze copper wire, but its joined to a thicker, silver wire by a sort of coupler-not soldered, and off that goes to wherever in th loom.
I am not getting much help from the 4x4 guys, but figured this sort of issue is pretty generic. can anyone suggest a way of testing the wires? Basiclaly i need to figure out if it IS the sensor at fault, or a problem with the wire before i got shelling out for a brand new sensor or wires!!
hope you can help!
