But seriously, I always let it grow out for three or four days or so, then cut it with a beard trimmer, then go at it with the razor. If gives the skin a few days to recouperate, and the beard trimmer gets the hair close enough to the skin to cut with a razor without rubbing your face raw like an electric shaver (they have never worked for me. Ever.) I grow hair pretty quick, so my jobs cut me some slack if I look a little shabby for a day or two. That, and I'm notorious for having a very large, bushy, unkempt beard, so they're willing to take what they can get.
