How to: H3 conversion for J-Spec

So both of my Raybrig H3C burned out within a month, I had them for less than half a year, the performance shop that I got them from only has one month warranty on them, so $65 down the drain before that I had a set of PIAA H3C, also burned out well just one on the PIAA. This time I got a set of SilverStar H3 on ebay for $30 shipped, just gonna use these before I have the cash for HID Plus I can get them exchange at local store if they burn out. Instead of modifing the bulb itself for it to work with our projector like L-ucky-S-ix did, I modified the housing itself, so I don't have to redo the whole process when I have to replace a bulb, plus this doesn't require soldering. I don't know if soldering will handle the temperature from the bulb, it might get de-solder if the bulb get too hot and we'll lose the ground wire to the bulb... that can't be good So here's what I did.

Tools
- 1/4" ratchet
- 1/4" socket
- 1/4" Philips screw driver head

Parts -- Available in Autozone or Radio Shack
- 2' 16 Gauge wire (recommand a black wire, easier to identify, I don't have a black one at the moment)
- 2 ring terminal
- 2 slipfit terminal

Procedure

First, disconnect the connector from the H3C bulb and remove the rubber boot, then remove the H3C bulb.

That's how it looks like with the connector, boot and bulb removed. There used to be a screw on that metal plate (in red circle), remove that screw with your ratchet and philips screw driver head (put paper in between 1/4" socket and screw driver head to avoid the screw driver head fall out), becareful as removing that screw, don't drop the screw or the metal plate, as the metal plate will come lose without the screw in place.

Then get about 4"~5" 16 gauge wire, strips both end of that wire and crimp one end onto a ring terminal, and the other end onto a slipfit terminal.

Then put that screw through the ring terminal which now attached to a wire, and screw it back onto the projector housing with the metal plate in place. From now on, that will be the ground wire for any H3 bulb we use. Now you can put a H3 bulb into the housing and lock it down with the metal clip, make sure the clip is making strong contact with the base of the bulb, because that clip is part of the ground path, it connect the H3 ground plate to the metal plate, where the ground wire with the ring terminal is.

Put the the rubber boot back on with those two wires coming out through the hole, then connect the wire from the H3 bulb to the connector red wire side, and the custom wire with slipfit terminal to the black wire side of the connector. Then gently push those wire back into the housing through the hole, and try to fill the hole up with the black plastic connector, just to avoid light coming out of the boot through that hole, or wire exposing. Do the same thing for both side and you are done

Here are the result with SilverStar H3, Enjoy

PS: If you are looking for cheap SilverStar, look for a seller name larrey123 on ebay, I got pair from him for $30 shipped, and only took him one day to ship it to me
