"How To" change Front Brake Rotors and Calipers

This "how To" will cover the basic steps for replacing the front brake rotors and calipers on a 1993-1997 MX-6 LS.

(**WARNING** I am not responsible for ANY damages or loss of life due to the instructions in this Guide. This guide only explains how I myself did the brakes on my car and it is recommended that you consult a professional before doing this job.)

Tools needed:

17mm Socket wrench or open ended wrench
12mm Socket wrench or open ended wrench
8mm open ended wrench or bleeder wrench
Piece of hose to fit the bleeder valve
jar or cup to let the fluid bleed into
Jack stands and jack
Lug wrench
A Friend

Step One:
Remove loosen the lugs up on both front tires then jack it up and put it on jack stands. Then remove the wheels.

Step Two:
Take the 17mm socket wrench or open ended wrench and remove the two 17mm bolts from the back of the top and bottom of the caliper. Then until you have a new caliper to put on take and Hang it by a piec of wire or something so its not hanging from the brake line.

Step Three:
Pull off the old rotor and Slide on the new one.

Step Four:
take and once you have your new calipers assuming oyu bought the pre-loaded ones take the 12mm socket and remov the bolt that is holding on the brake line and do this fast and quickly bolt it to the new caliper so that you do not leak alot of break fluid.

Step Five:
Re-attach the calipers and put the tires back on.Have a friend push the brake while you tighten the lugs leaving the car on the jack stands. Now its time to bleed the brakes. To do that take that tube and the 8mm wrench and put the tube on the bleeder valve then have a friend pump the brakes 3 or 4 times and hold it to the floor then open the bleeder valve a little and the fluid should come through the hose do this over and over till there are no bubble coming out too.check the master cylinder regularly to make sure it does not empty out...When your done bleeding the brakes take the car off the stands and take it for a drive if the brakes are still soft its recommended that you rebleed the system again(the system is all four brakes)If you yourself cannot get the brakes how they are suppose to be it is recommended that you have it taken to a shop.

Hope this helped anyone who needed it...
