"Official" Seafoam Cleaning Guide (decarb)

I just finished this process up myself, in which I went off a guide from 6264bange. However, I found many people having questions from his guide so here are my steps to doing this effectively.

Why?
This is a great way to clean up carbon in your car. Carbon builds up over time and people have the saying to "open up your car once and a while to clean it out," well the thing is, it doesn't really clean anything out, at least not substantially. This is a cheap way to clean up older 6's (which every one is older by now), and for people like me with a engine with 210K on it, it's vital to keeping this baby alive to see 300k.

How?
1) Purchase Seafoam. This is a universal solvent for cars/marine vehicles. NAPA carries them, as well as O'Reily stores I do believe, although I did purchase my 16 oz. bottle from NAPA myself ($5.88).Here is a shot of what to look for:



2) Using a large mouth cup, pour approximately 5-6 oz. into it.
3) Find a small vacuum line on the intake manifold.



Disconnect the hose from the manifold.
4) Turn the car on. Have a friend/relative/robot hold idle around 2000 RPMS. It probably doesn't matter as far as the RPM is concerned, but 2K is a safe and effective method for holding the engine at. Do not vary too much in the RPMs.

5) Take the vacuum hose and put it on the surface of the sea foam, making sure not to dunk it and let it just freely suck up everything, or else I'm pretty sure it stalls (not 100%, but not going to try). You want it to "slurp" the liquid, sucking in a good amount of air as well. Slurp up all that you can with it.
6) Shut off the motor and let it sit for 15-20 minutes (Sea foam instructions says 5-10, but it's better to overshoot it than undershoot it).
*OPTIONAL* While waiting with everything off, put another 5-6 oz. in the oil and in the gas, finishing off the bottle.
7) Turn on the car and make sure no neighbors are looking or the EPA becuase your going to really make your car look like a beater. DO THIS IN AN OPEN AREA! We don't need anyone passing out. Just enjoy the light show out of your muffler, that is of course if your favorite color is smoke . When I did it, I mainly had white smoke, but some black here and there.
8) Keep the RPMS around 2k to speed up the process. Do this for about 2 minutes. After that, go ahead and take it for a drive. If your like me, you saw a minimal difference, but still a change for the better. The more you drive it, the less the smoke gets, and eventually it goes away.

As for changing the oil. I drive the vehicle about 500 miles PRIOR to changing the oil. HOWEVER, I called Seafoam this afternoon to discuss how long is too long to drive (was going to add that in the write up as well). They said that you should drive no more than 100 miles with seafoam prior to changing the oil..

Also, MAKE SURE TO HOLD THE HOSE ON THE SURFACE OF THE LIQUID. DO NOT SUBMERGE THE HOSE. THIS CAN CASE YOUR MOTOR TO HYDROLOCK. THE HOSE SHOULD MAKE A "SLURPING" NOISE!
