they are out of price range, but like I said you get what you pay for. you don't have to lower it before you start driving. |

Off topic, i bought my six a little before i turned 16. It took me almost 3 years to start modding my car from stock. Just be patient. You probably work part at minimum wage. You want some advice? Get into the restaurant buisness. I started washing dishes at a pizza parlor then worked my way up. Now i wait tables at a really nice german retaurant averaging a little more than $20 hr.

You get what you pay for in most situations. If he were racing his car, then yes. Buying k-sports, he would get what he pays for. However, he did not mention he will be racing. His suspension is shot and he needs new struts/springs. Not everyone wants an uncomfortable ride for everyday driving. K-sports are NOT needed for every situation. Now I realize "comfort" can vary from person to person, but I've seen a few sets of k-sports being sold because they are just too stiff for everyday driving and that's understandable. Yes, they are good coilovers, but should not be recommended to everyone that wants new struts/springs. You are right though in price. By the time you buy a decent setup (assuming you change it all..mounts, etc.) you are very close, if not past the price of k-sports. I bought tokico HP suspension kit (I wanted a ride closest to stock and highest drop because it's my daily driver, but it also has a bodykit), new front strut mounts with bearings, new rear mounts, new upper and lower spring seats, and yes. I could have bought k-sports by now. I just didn't need/want them. So to answer the thread starters question, Tokico HP struts (blues) and a decent spring should be fine if you're looking for a replacement. Just be aware that different springs have different spring rates, thus giving a different experience. The higher the spring rate, the stiffer the spring/ride will be, but this also increases handling by reducing body roll, etc. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the lower you lower your car on ordinary struts (not a true coilover system), the less strut travel you have, which increases your chances of bottoming out on the bump stops. Your strut also has to be able to handle a higher spring rate. If it can't, the strut's life will be reduced. A lot of people go with the Tokico HP or Illumina struts matched with Eibach lowering springs and they are happy for a daily driver. I decided to just get the entire Tokico HP suspension kit since the springs included have a spring rate that is near stock, but some people think that is too soft. It's all about what you want as the driver. I think you should do a little more researching on spring rates, etc. Perhaps find a website explaining spring rate, and other suspension parts. They have a chart on here somewhere that lists most of the springs available for our car and their spring rates. Last edited by IceMan MX-6 : 5-15-07 at 17:07. |

there's other things good about ksports too other than for racing. you can adjust height if needed. sure you can do that with crappy cheap "coilovers", but those are extremely bad for handling. whatever you do, get springs if not ksports (or teins but those are much more than Ks)
also, there is adjustability on stiffness, so you get what you want. and for price of completely redueing suspension, you are close to ksports price, as said by iceman. you have been posting about different mods a lot lately. cut down on price of something else, not suspension. at least get tokicos and descent springs. but then you might as well get the ksports. especially since many people sell springs because they want it stiffer or looser. spending even more. its hard to tell if you will like the stiffness until you actually drive with it. especially since you haven't really driven yet. why true coilovers are worth money, imo. |

so i might just be stupid but if i want to lower my car but not to the point where i f-up my front end from being to low all i would need to do is buy a set of ksport coilovers and thats it or is there more to be purchased to make sure nothing breaks do to lowering the car.

True, but if you were already replacing everything, it might be worth it to spend the extra two hundred or so (assuming you would have gotten Eibach springs and Tokico Blues) to get the K-Sports. I know my suspension is bad, so hopefully by the end of the summer I will have a set of K-Sports.
