Supra taillight conversion.

So i want to do a conversion with the supra lights. I have a couple options.
1.) Buy the supra tails and mount them on the car with some bodywork.

2.) Buy some altezza's and retrofit them with the internals.<--THis is what i am leaning towards.

What do you think would be cheaper, better, or anything else that would help! Would the supra tail internals even fit the altezza? Thanks for your time.

Supra tails here: eBay Motors: 94-98 Toyota Supra Tail Lights Pair (item 330198947357 end time Dec-29-07 01:00:00 PST)

IMO I think you should go with the real Supra tails and do the body work around them to fill in. Seems simpler to me, after all, light bulbs are light buls. match the wiring with what you want and it`ll all be fine. Correct me if I`m wonrg anyone.

Well, it depends on how much time you have and how much you know about modding.

Honestly, the Supra tail is outdated......... People have tried many tails already.......

To me, the best is to buy the aftermarket with black & chrome layout.

Just sold my 911 & got a 08 750i, but crashed........

you can also go and take the aftermarket tails, open them up, and change the red signal plastic circle and somehow make it yellow.

Comparing cost and labor involved in modding your car to accommodate Supra tails vs. modding the altezzas to look like Supra tails, I'd recommend the latter.

I love the supra tail conversion. It looks very cool IMO. Still like the stock tails too. If you like it then I say do it. You can come check out how this one was done if you like, get some ideas. It's only a 3 hr drive up here lol

Here's mine. I took regular craptastic altezzas, and stained glass spray painted them. (stained glass had better clarity than tintshades, IMO)

here's a pic from when i first did them... i'd like to say two years ago? whenever they first started becoming available. I've since buffed them and gone over them with another coat, so the clarity is the same, but the color is a little darker.

as far as i know, i'm the only one so far who's done this.. but i might be wrong. It depends on what you're going for.. this fit the look of my car because of the ruby color. and yes i'm aware that i redded out the reverse lights

In Canada you can get it at Michael's, it's called stained glass.

So many times ive made post's asking if someone has done it and made comments on how I had the idea to do it..and here you did it 2yrs ago..

It looks cool, I might have to go that route with the ones i just orderd. Do you remember what brand of paint you used?

word? truth be told its not like its my idea - i stole it from someone on mx3.com, except they used the paint on the inside, chrome surface of the altezza, but left the lense clear. I just don't recall anyone here doing it with them.

the paint is krylon IIRC. small 3-4oz can. any art supply store will have it. I also bought a great yellow, to do the fog lenses.. I never got around to that though... too lazy to take off my fogs.

the clarity is amazing.. just go slow. the first time i did it, i put on too thick of a coat, and did them too quickly together, and they clouded over.

oh of course im not going to give you credit for the idea

I seen the same thing done to the altezzes on the mx3 back before mx6 altezza even existed ,ive wondered what the mx6 altezza would look like.

do you have any close pictures of just one?.. I was originally thinking candy apple,, only if painting the chrome the same color as the car and leaving the lense clear didnt look good

supra tails are not as easy as it looks. the tails are deeper, wider and taller than the stock tails.
you need to do quite a bit of work. I would recommend this only to someone who is ready for 6-10hrs of work.
