Calling all black intake manifolds.

im putting a [shizzle] ton of time into my manifold filing off all the casting marks/any random bumps/mounting spots not needed/other crap that are on there and not doing me any good. i have too much time on my hands.

I cant decide wether i want to try to polish it up, or just paint it black to match my valve covers. I have seen some black manifolds that just look gross, and some that look totally sleeper.

post any pics of black IM's youve got. and i might thank you.

inexperienced people resort to a file. Use a high speed sanding disc. Because you will need to sand it to atleast 230grit to get a decent shine, up to 400grt to get a mirror shine

King was saying to use a die grinder with a sanding disc. Air belt sanders (finger files) work very well too. Or a carbide rotary file, but you have to be carefull not to take too much off.

oic. well i dont have constant access to either of those things. plus i think it would be pretty hard to get between the runners/all the angles with that.

Yeah a fool would. Thats why I typed high speed sanding disc.

I could sand down 5 manifolds before you did your one with a file.

I start with the high speed grinder, then work up to the DA sander with sticky pad sand paper. I only hand sand when im up to 400, By then I can literally polish it to a mirror shine with hand polish. (exactly what I did with my King #6 cutout)
