Help: need to remove layer of primer

i painted a part of my car, didnt expect some of the paint, clear coat and primer to flyoff and land somewhere else. So now, some parts have a thin layer of primer and unwanted paint and clear coat ... not only the body but also on 1 headlight.

what is the best way to remove this primer and paint? sand with 1000 grit? This is the only solution I came up with .... please advice ...

use some paint thinner on the headlight. not sure if that will hurt the body though, but might be too harsh. i know other people on here know what to do

thinner dissolves plastic ..even hard plastic .. so headlights are vulnerable ... it may also remove my existing paint and gloss if kept for a while .... so I am not very safe with that ... until there is something like dilute thinner. I know high grit sanding is a definite method ... still thinking if anyone has any other things in mind like you ... thanks

A buffer with some abrasive polish might do the trick. I once used some [shizzle]ty whitening toothpaste to take off another cars paint that hit my wife's door. Worked wonders...smelled nice too...all minty and ish.

Just use enough to take off the top paint. Recently I was dissolving styrofoam and at first I tried using paint thinner but the styrofoam just sat there floating around. Left it there for a good 10 minutes and came back and still floating around. Acetone is the stuff that dissolves it on contact. Maybe a little bit of paint thinner on a rag and then wash it off right away? not saying you should do it, just saying paint thinner isn't that strong... well not as strong as acetone :P

Use mineral spirits. It doesn't affect plastics. It needs a little more elbow grease to get the paint off, but it's easier to save the exisitng paint that you don't want rubbed off...
