What exactly are HLA's sorry kinda new to the tuner style and tech terms. Is it a simple re adjust or replacement? And if I replace my egr what else should I be changing out with it, vacuum lines, valve sensors anything like that? And I'm interested in the egr you have. I just checked AZ the other day and it was upwards of 300 and I need to replace it so I can continue to make this beauty what it should be.
Okay so the lifters haha sorry, if I were to change the oil and it didn't help than replace them? And I was also informed it could be my Timing Belt Tensioner. Sound logical to you? Just trying to figure out what ill need to do to get it up to legal driving standards I/M and safety. So I can begin the overhaul of new internals exterior work and completely new interior. Bought it off a gentleman who did not take very good care of it. Hence all the questions and mumbling about where to get parts.
So I decided to just take it off and clean it before just out right buying one.
Only thing is Iwas taking a look yesterday and think Ifound the EGR VALVE towards the middle and lower of the block near the fire wall. So how do I get in there to take it off and clean it? I went to a few places online for diagrams and even autozone gave me one but they all say it is located near the right strut mount near all my belts but its not there? Please anyone know kinda stuck here.
I also have 3 EGR Valves that Id easily part with for as little as $20ea shipped in US. For as many EGR block offs that ive made over the years Id figure there have to be alot of them floating around in the F/S areas..unless people are throwing them away?
EGR's are also quite simple to fix, You need to take apart most of the intake just to get at it.. so do yourself a favor and take off the throttle body to. Behind the throttle body on the left side is a small hole usually compacted with soot, This is the EGR passage..pick all the soot out and snake out the hole free of debri. Next remove the EGR..its mounted to the back of the head via 2 bolts, and a tube connecting it to the rear manifold.. Remove the tube at the EGR valve -not the manifold. Once thats off, clean it up and run the plunger of the EGR in and out manually.. then OHM test it. If all checks out, reuse it. Then take some carb cleaner and spray it down that small hole behind the throttle body.. it will leak out the area the EGR was connected to. Thats really all it takes.
Hi, i have a 93 mx-6 that i recently bought then the motor blew up 2 days later. I replaced the motor last week and everything is fine except when you give it more than 1/4 throttle the motor chokes. It doesn't die just drops to like 200 rpm Idling or driving. This didn't happen with the old motor and i only get a check engine light after 20 minutes of driving. Im suspecting the egr valve? Please help!
That's my only problem. I can't find the right connector to check it. The shop i work at doesn't have it and neither does o reilys and Im not paying the dealership $110.
