2.5 V6 TURBO setup almost done!!!!!

Today I got the car going with just an AFPR no FMU since I'm still waiting for the order, I couldn't hold my desire to drive the car in ^_^ I i went and tested the car, got boosted to 5psi in 2nd gear @ about 4,000RPM ebay t04e turbo 57trim.

Did that 3 times fairly quickly and stopped to cool off in between so I don't LEAN out for too long.

After the 3rd run a weird sound came from (the exhaust I think) only if itz above 2000,rpm or after I let off the gas, itz like a poping sound.......
What could it be? I super glued my EGR hole on the rear headerz so if that melted and startz leaking would that make a poping sound when i let my foost off the gas?

and I poped the hood to check how thingz are and found the hood to be extremely hot, especially the metal parts on my air filter(no intercooler)(my turbo isn't rapped up but I wrapped up the turbo collector pipes & downpipe that are under the hood... will I be okay?

I'm on max 5psi stock everything(even the fuel pump) 95-98Octane. spark gap 0.03"

The car felt great- itz now much smoother and powerful while in low RPM range than it was.

100% ebay partz 38mm wastegate, apexi style twin chamber BOV, 57trim t3/t04e turbo, ebay turbo manifold(downpipe hung too low so i had to cut bend & weld it)

The Ebay turbo I'd have to say it was great the seal did not melt & I have 1/8" oil inlet & 3/8 oil outlet no restrictors what so ever, 5w-40 Penzoil full synthetic oil designed for turbocharged & supercharged enginez.

just some pix

large pix

Sorry I'm new the pix are too big should've posted linkz instead

well I didn't even need to get new slim fanz I just cut a little bit off the heat shielf from the back of the fan and turned my coolant reservoir the other way so the turbo could fit with minimum effort .

the whole thing is fairly easy I'd say if u got a Head with some brain, Stainless Mig welder, Grinder & all sortz of toolz ^_^ no big deal if you run max 5-6psi.

I might have a VIDEO UP ON YOUTUBE withing 2 weeks (after I install my 12:1 FMU) then I'll post the link on the FORUM.

sometimes i just laugh at how people do things.. lol..

Whats with the vacuum block? I had to block off vacum ports on the IM cause i had to many.

And more importantly.. Boost gauge in the engine bay?

There's a gromit above the pedals, and you should be able to slide it though there.

well

umm I bought all parts seperately picking the best & cheapest managed to pull the whole thing together under $1600 USD that was like 3 months ago tho.

Then I saw the whole kit for sale It's exactly what I pieced together, EXCEPT mine isn't intercooled...... I'm planning to get my Hood VENTED just enough to let out some hot air.

with the turbo I think the Ebay turboz now dayz are fairly balanced compared to years ago, mine seemed fine no probz.

lol chill out why spend $240+ on a simple BOV? MY CHEAP $30 APEXI STLYE COPY WORKS GREAT LOL, first I put a vacuum tube on and give the diaframe a little push it opens....... fear it'll boost creep? just tighten the bolt on the top this car is old (1992 the first 2G batch) so everything I've done is pretty much half assed and cheap WHY>?? coz i only want the car to hold out for 3 more years of daily driving.

do yourself the favor and stop driving it without any sort of fuel control.

5 psi, from a full t4 turbo, without any increase in fuel? thats a stupid move man.

What was your afpr set to? describe the popping more.

94 mx6 - you name it - I did it, came up with it, tried it and rejected it or just plain still have it.
93 mx3 - klze, i/h/e, rims and paint.. daily driver.
