ok my new turbo arrived... no go coz everything was way off measurements etc. so I took off my old T3/T04e 57trim and welded 1/2 of the fins (not fully closed shut as you can see) on the hotside used to spool @ 3000rpm & get 5psi @4000rpm now only 2400rpm & get 5psi by 3500rpm.
way more torque(throttle response was amazing too) @ around 2000 rpm it feelz like my dads supercharged v8 now ^^.... weight increase by a total of 3.5grams (6 fins) + maybe 2-3 more grams from the stainless steel weld spots (pic was taken when finz had minimal weld spots). btw it has a bit of the whining sound when spooling ... I like it alot but letz see how long it'll last.
the other reason why i didnt use the small T3 turbo was coz the cold side was way too small(hotside A/R .48) about 3inchz smaller in diameter
and here i was thinking you needed one of those big expensive machines to balance the inertia of an extra 3.5 g tacked randomly onto a wheel spinning at over 150k rpm? silly me
not only that but i dont beleive it would have the benefit your claiming it has. i would have at least expected a cam-phone youtube video to back up what rpm it spools at
interesting indeed, i'd say the whining noise is from the out of balance shaft though... bearings wont last long, it will be good to see how long it lasts
lol like i said... just wait and see how long it will last. I'll try to get a clip if you want but it'll be abit hard since my boost gauge is out the window ^^.
I think this should be used as a Mazda Ad to show how great our cars can hold up to the worst conditions.....Some1 should send this in LOL...
King you said it all tho man, just missed on one fine point...think this is the stupidest thing ANYONE on this planet has ever done...Darwin's Theory FAILS again.....(for now). Sad thing is he takes pride in it.
That is the stupidest thing I ever saw a member do here.
Id hit you some negative karma, though you would probaly get banned. And Id prefer to see the outcome of your craptastic turbo setup.
YouTube - MAZDA 2nd Gen MX-6 v6 2.6LTurbo k i took a short clip of it next to a gold coarse ^^ minimum cops.... my phone wont be able to show the fine readings on the dash so I'm not gonna bother for now.
Soon I'll be making a fiber glass cover for the turbo & intake pipe.
Paint it all black with a silver "MAZDA" decal it should fool the cops easily.
It'll be around October ^^ cya guys l8er till then
this is making MX6 people look really stupid, it is getting the attention of other forums, and they are all talking smack, here is a link to another site, talking about this thread Welding turbine blade fins (pics)
I give up...
who wants to call garrett and see if they will test one like that, I doubt anyone would sign up for the job, in fear of their life. can you imagine what will happen when one of those fins comes flying off under full load on a freeway pull, kiss your engine goodbye.

more forums that know about this... and they are in the Mazda family
even though you think/might be getting power sooner or what not, its seriously not safe to run your turbo like that... Nor*Cal lingo would call this "Hella Sketch"
I swear you can read this thread just for laughs, it is heaps funny until you get to the "Yo yo yo yall its (name) from (forum).com shouting out to my boyz, Copex is dumb"

The turbine is incased in a cast iron housing. Those fins would simply splatter inside, sending shrapnel into the down pipe. it wouldnt effect the motor.
However if the compressor was to explode (from whatever) that would ruin your motor if material reached that far.
Ok this guy is so freaking retarded. I don't know as much about turbos as you guys do but reading his post and all I knew right away this was a ghetto setup and knew this guy was stupid from get go. And then seeing his picture of his so called weld job if that's what he calls made me realize he might be retarded. I can teach my 5 yr to weld better than that after a couple of days. All in all that thing will fail soon and we'll here from him wondering what happened, I'm out I need to teach my kids not to be like him when older lol
Yeah, maybe copex really is on the "slow" side of things.
