i do not actually have an ebay turbo but i heard that the t3 t4 turbos take for ever to spool, i have no hard evidence either way. just something to be aware of

More Mazda vehicles are raced on any given weekend then any other car manufacturer.

Both King6 and I have "ebay" turbos, but they asre authentic turbonetics, and come with a warranty..

If your planning on buying one of thes 250 dollar turbos, I would advise you to not waste your money. From what I hear they are above a 60% fail rate. There are a few good stories about people whos [shizzle] holds up though.

Made in china turbos are fine my AR .45 holds up to 9psi and has a bit of oil leak but that problem was sorted out with a smaller oil supply flange.

Its a fairly small turbo gets to 9psi@ around 3,000rpm WOT on my 2.5 mx6.

So fair it has being about 6months since I got it still no shaft play.

My bro got a T3/4 about a year ago its going strong on his probe, come on harder and later than my small one. 7psi @4,000RPM WOT

Ive got a made in china turbo, more then 6 months later and still boosting strong. It is making a strange noise when cold though, at first I thought it was just a guy mowing his lawn the next street over every time I went to work, but it is coming from my engine bay. Ive got cash sitting there for a Gt30 or the like when this turbo goes though, but until ill be china-ing it up.

PS others arent so lucky, failing on first day etc, but life a gamble.

but its a cheap gamble right? a proper name brand has a hefty 1.5k+ price tag and we are unlikely to push those turbos to their limits on our little engines.

Well it is a cheap gamble yes. I wouldnt say we arent pushing those turbos to the limit would be a good reason to choose replica turbo though. fact is we wont be pusing either to their limit. The thing that makes the replicas bad is generally bad quality parts, bad or even no balancing, and most commonly, shoddy oil seals.

Mine has new seals and was balanced by a local shop, so it was slightly less of a gamble. Many of the replicas are actually semi-decently made, while others will fail on day one or may not even make 1psi of boost, or blow trying. That is why it is hit and miss. I know someone who is on their same "temporary ebay replica turbo" for the last 2 years. I know others that first day they got it even with a decent oil drain they were pretty much pouring oil into their intercooler pipes.

My Turbonetics was only 740ish with a 1 year warranty. Buying a good turbo isnt all that much more when your dumping 10K in the motor anyways. [fizzle], my injectors are going to end up costing more than the turbo....

i'm running a t3/t4 off of ebay and she's holding up at 15psi... and it spools up at about 1800 rpm's... this turbo was bought for temporary use till i saved up money for a ballbearing turbo that is water and oil cooled... but for the most part it's well worth the money since it's holding up so well.

chipped ecu, t3/t4 to4e hybrid turbo, vw jetta a/m fmic, 2 in." hard piping to help with throttle response and lose turbo lag!, 38mm external wastegate, custom down pipe, 3 in" custom made exhaust, greddy pro-fec b boost controller, new design hks ssqv... ms on the way.
