what about the turbo kit on probeaddiction.com that says it will work? its not name brand, has anyone bought them before? ill have around 4-5 G to spend on it i want to put one in in the fall when i dont drive it. everyone always says go custom and it is obviously the best way. most people just want to buy everything at once its less work to find it. would buying it piece by piece be more expensive or cheaper? obviously better quality because you choose every component involved in it. im just looking into it because i want to be boosted next spring and its hard to find stuff for the car. ive read alot of these to get started. i just would like a little info on what you guys think. also wanted to know if anyone has used the HKS ssqv bov i like the sound and wanted to know if anyone has puut it in?

I would say that the probeaddiction kit is probably one of the better "kits" out there but for 5k you could definitely have a better custom setup. Maybe you need to find a local performance shop and talk to them about it.
The only reliable shop around costs an arm and a leg for there work it was round 1g or more to buy and install a aftermarket clutch and flywheel I don't want to deal with that bs. There good but i'm just looking for a little extra under the hood I think I'll buy the stage 3 kit. Thanks tho
I've heard good things about the Probeaddiction kits, although if I were you, I'd buy the hot pipes from them and piece the rest together myself. I think it'd turn out a little cheaper, and you'd have exactly what you wanted.
I want to get 300 hp or close. I'm all for buying the piping from probeaddiction and then piecing the rest together but I don't exaxctly have a list of what I need I've read slot got most of it down. If I get the piping I'll need to buy turbo fuel pump bov if wanted which I do. I'll put my battery in my trunk for more room. Intercooler and pipes for that. Am I forgetting stuff? I just want to run 8 psi.
You're forgetting research. Turbocharging a car that didn't come that way from the factory is pretty in depth and you should know what you are getting into before you throw away a ton of money.
Also, is your car a daily driver? The reliability of the car will be greatly affected by adding a turbo setup.

my engine is good its a daily driver. if it goes bad ill just buy the ze. research i know i have been and i will keep doing it. i don't want to make it a race car just small gains that's why i wasn't going for 400 hp just somewhere around 300. i have money to buy it i just want some sound advice and places with good prices. im not asking for someone to hold my hand and wipe my ass. i want to do this myself it would be fun.
so far Ive got the eBay kits are junk, probeaddiction one works but custom is the best and probably cheaper.
now if i get the piping i have to weld everything together? i know some of my questions can be stupid but i just want reassurance in what im thinking.
i wont drive it in the winter cuz of the snow. so with my money from the winter ill try to find a decent car to drive daily. i was going to save for a srt4 but i like the mx6 there is only 3 in toledo and alot of probes but they are mostly pieces

Reason: NO DOUBLE POSTING
300 HP is nearly double the stock crank HP rating, More than double if it's wheel HP vs wheel HP.
Thats not a 'minor gain" in any book.
5 psi should get you around 250-275 whp or 300+- chp easy enough and with a healthy margin of safety, and at that psi an intercooler isnt needed.
Your fuel management is your bigest wory and thats where you NEED to concentrate your studying. It's tricky because in principal it's simple, you need to add fuel when ever your in boost in order to both make power and preserve the motor.
But doing that effectively with out ruining the cars street amners and milage can be tricky.
Theres no set formula for this and so theres no standard blueprint to copy. You can spend the time and money on a stand alone like ms, and have great control over fuel and spark or you can go the FMU route.
Next to that bolting up the components is simple. It just takes time money and patience.

so ms is the best way to go. ill obviously have to research that. if i ran 7 psi would i need an intercooler? that 5psi sounds safer and good gains seeing as im not trying to do alot i can always build up after.
You'd probably want an intercooler just because the KL motors generate so much heat, the piping will be close to the engine, and you'll be sucking in ambient air in from the engine bay. You may be able to get by without one, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thats true enough but it would be easier to rout a cold air intake than to plumb an entire ic system. Most people seem to just install a filter on the turbo inlet and call it done.
As for megasquirt, keep in mind that tuning is an entirely different skill set to learn on top of everything else you'll be trying to wrap your head around in the next year or so.
It would be best to tackly a stand alone as a seperate project from a turbo instal.
You can do the MS first but you wont see any significant gains right away or do the turbo first and settle for a low boost setup until you can step up with MS and other upgrades like an IC and aditional fuel mods.

ok well i have to put this on hold for now my parents don't want there son to throw his money into a car that i wont have forever. there gonna take me to mazda dealership and look at the mazdaspeed mazda6 and the nissan dealership and the 2008 350z they are running good deals apparently because everyone forgot about them because of the 370z. if all else fails used srt4.
Good choice, I dont know how many people I try to explain buying a stock boosted car is so much better than messing with a 10 y/o or more car that is going to need constant fixing.
