turbos

I used the turbo off a pontiac firefly, and had the entire system custom done by a friend. I also replaced the cylinder head as well. it should cost about.. uhm $2300 cdn to get it all done (but I didn't pay anywhere near that lol)

I'm also working on a lambo door conversion as well..

I'm looking forward to posting the photos of this

cheers

Dude, you'd have to be insane to do that to a turbocharged 03. If that's your goal, buy a frickin Civic or Corolla.

nice pipes.... I guess you don't need to keep equal pipe length with the exhaust ? This no longer maters in a turbo setup?

i didnt read the other 4 pages of threads, but have to comment on this comment ont he 1st page, so im not sure if its already been said...
Look on DSM forums, people are ALWAYS selling T-25's and 14b's
Better yet, the 16g is even better. it is the same size as the 14b but produces over 100 CFM's more. but youll have to buy it used on a forum or new. www.dsmtrader.com is full of turbos.
Im selling my 14b of my DSM, but 3 fins are bent on the turbine wheel

Try more like 75cfm at 1 bar, and they're actually quite different in size...

Ok, maybe this is a dumb question but does anyone think a Mitsubishi TEO4H wastegated at 7 psi. would work well on a v6? I've been looking around and it seems to be an alternative to a T3. Any ideas?

What'd it come off of, a turbo Chrysler van from the late 80s? TEO4Hs are DINKY. It would probably be able to handle 7psi up to 7k rpm on a KL, but it'd just be blowing a lot of hot air.

hey man..i bought i turbo off ebay...its from i4..but i have the v6 ...it came with plastic plumming and some rubber hoses..and saw that site ludespeed.com...if i just goto a muffler shop and ask them to make a replica of the piping..they can do it right?? plus...the turbo came on a manifold..but it wont fit so i can prolly throw it away..but do i need something to hook upto my manifold or is that what the cold air intake is for?? after getting all the piping, bov, fmu,( i have an intercooler and turbo), injectors, bigger pistons and rods, camshafts and underdrive pulleys, (do i need rods if i get pistons??), with all that will i be able to set up the turbo?? or am i missing something? also, do i need a welder to hook everything up if all the flanges are welded on? or do i need anything welded if the pipes are already welded for me?? Sorry for so many questions but ive been interested soo long and wanna finally do this..thanks

^^^^ with all those questions....nu uh, dont touch it, youll mess something up... i grew up around turbos but all those questions in lne together confused me, take it to a performance place, and have them put everything in.

for starters, since im confused as hell right now reading all those questions, the turbo came on the exhaust manifold(which wont fit so u need to buy a new Exhaust manifold that will fit ur head and the turbo)....so why the hell would u relate a cold air intake to an exhaust manifold?? do you think that a cold air intake will spool it up fast enough? ha.... if flanges are already welded on, then u may not need to, it depends...man, im sick of reading through that garble, do some more research---it looks like u dont know what ur doing whatsoever, just looks like u know the names of stuff u need

oh, and illa nswer one more, u dontneed bigger pistons, just ones that are capable of handling real boost levels, but i would recomend getting bigger rods

sorry for the confusion..i mean that i got what i was saying from the pic on www.ludespeed.com the turbo i have now came on the i4 manifold..but i had the v6..so i would take it off...(the pic shows the headers runing to the pipes from what would be my exhaust manifold)..those pipes to the turbo..then to the exhaust..but it doesnt show the other side of the turbo and what it goes to..so i was wanting to know if the otherside of the turbo goes to the intercooler then to the intake manifold..the pic doesnt show very well how its setup..can u explain that pic to me?

the pic shows the hot side of the turbo...

if the cold side was on there, you'd see one of 2 things:

1) piping from the intake going into the turbo, going to the TB (non-intercooled)

or

2) piping from the intake going into the turbo, going to an intercooler, then going to the TB...

mabye that pic will help you visualize it a lil better

so that one in the pic isnt intercooled? so if i had an intercooler..there wouldnt be an intake filter?? almost every intercooled turbo ive seen...theres never been a intake...whys thats?? or somehow from the intercooler there is a filter...not to make you iritated..but can you pshycially drawn it out in paint..and put on here?

think i have it now...
1. exhaust manifold piping to piping on to one side of turbo
2. then other side of turbo to intercooler
3. intercooler to throttle body
4. throttle body back to intake manifold
5. the theres a filter located on the spool part (ive seen like this)

if you could either get that pic drawn out or put the process in order..so far no one has told me the correct way cuz ill ask someone else and theyll tell me differently..HELP
