hei mod for 96+

Has anyone done the hei mod for a 96+ v6. I am interested since my car is starting to show signs of having distributor problems. If anyone has done this mod, please let me know and also include the connections that need to be made.

Quick question for ALL TECHS. For the mod there are directions saying to cut the wires and use store bought wire connectors. Why not go to the scrap yard and get the connectors used under the hood of any Chevy to connect the module instead of cobling up a new harness.

There seems to be no one on the site that can answer the question. What happened, someone asks a tough question and everyone hides?

A 96 distributor (OBD II) is the same as a 95 distributor (OBD I). The instructions over at Probetalk are for the 93 style distributor, I believe. The connectors will differ between a 93 and a 95/96.

If anyone finds an answer to this question, please email me. I have a 1995 mx6 ls 2.5l with a 3rd dead distributor and saw the posts in probetalk about the mod, but no one seems to be talking about if it can work. If it is merely a problem of connector differences, these should be easily overcome.

Cool No hp gain :(

From everything that i have read about this mod (original mod for 93-94 probes) is just a cheap fix for dead disty problem. I am no expert by any means and may have interpreted the information wrong, but i think you don't get any horsepower increase, just a more reliable car. By reliable, I mean easily replaced chevy disty (cheap). Search for " Joe Bialy" here or at probetalk.com for the complete story. I am still waiting for someone who has finished testing this upgrade on a 95 mx-6! I am dieing to mod my mx-6 with this trick!

Any one who has finished a 95 with this mod please email me : welderbob2004@hotmail.com

peace
