Hey guys, im getting a custom exhaust installed on my i4... I was wondering, i hate that ricey sound in some exhausts you find on CRX's or civics and shat. I loooooove the deeeep sound, DIESAL sound, you know what im talking about? i want it to sound as diesal/deep as i can with out that importy ricey sound. With a custom exhaust, i have a muffler, with like a 3" oppening, similar to this http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thum..._muffler_1.jpg.
I am dropping my car off sunday for the installation. So i will be giving that muffler to the guy doin it, and he is gonna put on his custom piping. I want to keep the stock pipe width for the back pressure but will that take away from the deep sound? i know almost nothing about exhaust and sounds so with that muffler, what should i tell the exhaust guy bto put on in terms of piping and whatever i need to make it aas DIESAL///DEEP as i possibly can, keeping as close to stock pipe width as i can and going from catback. PLLLLZZZZ help, i need to know ASAP.
Thankx so much guys
Anyway, if you bought some crap no-name muffler, it's going to sound like crap no matter what you do. If the piping being installed is not mandrel-bent, there is no use whatsoever in changing it at all if you don't plan to go to a larger diameter.
And install a resonator or prepare to deal with the rice sound even moreso.

It's always nice to have the sound and look match at least...
You inspired me to check out the Cardomain site, and I concur!

I hadn't looked at the car first, but now that I have...yeah...
Your car has a small 4-banger and is NOT diesel so it is going to be kinda hard to sound that way. The muffler you DID get is probably the worst type for what you are looking for. I'm guessing you should get 2.25" pipe, a good resonator, stock cat or highflow, and a dual outlet muffler from someone like Bosal/Brospeed or maybe Magnaflow. If you keep your new muffler, at least put a better muffler before it.
