FAQ needs help. We have the content, and the body of knowledge... but we don't have any effective way to present it to the user - either new or vet.
Instead of patching it all together from the fragmented bits that we have - I'd like to rebuild a FAQ altogether, in easily used and printed PDF format. (please submit to me in an editable format, however. We will create the pdf's and watermark them appropriately) I have no problem referring to and including information from some of the excellent write ups out there (such as the Leska write ups) BUT - with pic links long since dead, the write ups often lead nowhere. If you have these saved anywhere, please forward them along. Thank you to the several members who have already forwarded along what they had. Please submit any pics and the associated write up (if its not yours) to me, and we can start rebuilding the FAQ to properly represent the body of information this site contains. The functioning write ups with pics that we do have - if you are the thread originator, I'll be contacting you with any edits, additions i might need, as well as placing them into pdf formats. I'll be fielding as many of these as i can, myself, but all help is appreciated, and indeed necessary for us to have a usable FAQ within a reasonable time period. Please note, MOST of the categories below already have a write up somewhere. I'm just using this as a checklist of sorts, and making sure we use the most updated and complete information, and most importantly, have actual pics, that we can attach and host HERE so we do not rely on the comings and goings of external hosts. engine/ related: - Intake Manifold R&R - Valve Cover Gasket R&R - Motor mount R&R inserts R&R filling a mount - Phenolic Spacer Install - Transmission R&R - Power Steering Pump R&R - KLZE swap - Axle/ CV joint Replacement - Distributor R&R HEI coil install - Timing belt Water Pump Accessory belts - Alternator R&R - Thermostat R&R Radiator R&R - Adjusting the TPS - IAT mod for the atx Performance: -CAI install (we have several options already, but the more ideas the merrier.) - BBK ideas and installs - performance headers - Cat back installs - Custom exhaust ideas - suspension upgrades - sway bar upgrades - short throw shifter how to - IM gutting for f/i - VRIS controllers - underdrive pulleys - performance clutch/flywheel (goes along with Transmission R&R) - 929/millennia master cylinder upgrade - Weight Redux - SS brakeline install - SS clutch line - Battery Relocation (performance? heh) Appearance: - indiglo installs - jspec headlamps how to (with wiring) - espec headlamps how to - angel eyes how to - HID installs and retrofits to any of the above - Spoiler/Wing how to - clear sidemarkers R&R - Valve cover painting, powdercoating or polishing - Intake manifold painting, powdercoating or polishing - detailed body kit installs (some need more work than others) - Custom work (fender flaring, fiberglassing, hood scoops, fender scoops, splitters, adaptation from other cars, flushing, frenching, interior fabrics, etc etc etc... - Detailing Wax and compound Clay bar Leather treatment (Graham's write up is the gold standard so far) ICE: - system installs - headunits - subwoofer ideas - Amp wiring - carputers - Custom work (enclosures, midbass installs, amp racks, FG work, automobile integration etc etc) - navigation systems - Megasquirt (lots of possibilities here - pics appreciated) - lighting (led, neon, etc) General Maintenance: - oil change (we were all once newbs, right?) - air filter change - pcv change - brake bleeding - Tranny fluid change/flush (atx and mtx) - kerosene/seafoam flush - throttle body/IM cleaning (installed, via seafoam, or removed and scrubbed) - Brake pads, front and/or rear R&R - Brake discs - Rear calipers (rebuild, replace, or upgrade via protege 5) - Master and Slave cylinders R&R - catalytic converter R&R - Fuel Filter R&R - Spark Plugs Spark plug wires Distributor Cap and Rotor - Headlight bulbs R&R - Turn Signal Bulbs R&R - Brake/reverse light bulbs R&R - rear trunk struts R&R - set idle - MALF codes/ paper clip trick - Specs and capacities Chassis: - Rear endlinks R&R Front endlinks R&R - Heim Joint adjustable upgrades to either of the above - Rear swaybar upgrade - Lower Control Arm R&R Ball joint R&R - Tie Rod ends - Crossmember(s) R&R - Trailing arms R&R poly bushing upgrade Feel free to make any other suggestions here but lets not go crazy with really , overly specific write ups - thats what the forums are used to discuss. small print: Please be aware that as this is a public forum, once you submit your work, it will be subject to web crawls, cached pages, etc. Intellectual property laws protect you against someone else taking credit for, or making a profit off of your write up (for instance, ebay repair CD's, etc) however they do not protect your ability to control the information once you voluntarily submit it...
