my 6 might be done for.....

On the way home from taking my MX-6 storage the engine over heated and seized up. so my dad and i waited for it to cool down and anti freeze came up and spilled all over the ground. so we got it towed back to my house. i really wonder if it would cost more to buy a new car or get a new engine, or posibly fix the one i have now. i really dont know but i am sick of all the damn problems with this car!! but i still love her

well we knew something was bad. the exhaust is off of one of the headers so it was ahrd to tell if it was exhaust or [shizzle] on fire lol. we were like 4 blocks from home so we said f it lets get it home and then it died. but once it was home i let it cool down. while i was waiting i tried the hair dryer and air duster can upside down and it DID not work on any dents for [shizzle]. but i started it and anti freeze started bubbling out and spilling so i shut the car off. my dad thinks the radiator is plugged up so were draning it tomorrow.

edit - the radiator fans were also not turning on at all so im not sure with that. which fuse in the box is for that i havent looked in the owners manual yet.

the fuse for the fans is in the main fuse panel in the engine bay.

as for the fans not coming on, there could be a problem with the coolant temperature sensor, with the adjustment of the TPS, or possibly one or both of the fan relays.

but the car also overheated, which means there might be the problem with the radiator as you mentioned, but it might also mean that the thermostat has failed. you could remove it and test it to make sure.

testing it means placing it in a pot of cold water and then heating the pot. as the temp rises, you should see movement in the spring mechanism, opening the thermostat. if it opens, it's good. if not, then it should be replaced.

Why didn't you pull over and turn off the car before the temp gauge pegged?

That is not where it goes. Follow the lower coolent line off the rad. up to the engine. It will lead you to a housing that can be unbolted.

You can see the two bolts holding it together.

Probably, excess pressure in the system is coming from somewhere... a blown headgasket would cause that.
