I looked through the archives and didn't find my exact problem. I started to hear a lot of suspension noise several weeks ago going over bumps. I replaced lower ball joints, tie rods, and sway bar links before the suspension noise. Now I am getting an engine surge while i'm just cruising and not accelerating. It has been getting worse the last few days. Today I checked just reving the motor in neutral. I got the surge at a constant RPM. Also the higher the RPM the worse the surging. During the surge, the engine is making a lot of noise. I checked the spark plugs and they look like each one is firing good. I will sometimes get a clunk noise when I press in the clutch but not always. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
I've got that same "surge" of power thing while either idleing or cruising, but it's not consistant, and i can't predict when it will happen. However, i do hear what sounds like a pump or a fan start up in the engine when this is happening. It doesn't appear that there are any misfires during this time. Like you ... i'm stumped
uh i heard that air bubbles in the coolant will do the idle surge i dunno bout crusing though. My car has that problem and i'm too lazy to check it out. It got better after i seafoamed my engine though

Just giving you guys an update on my problem. I found the engine surging problem to be the spark plugs and wires. Once I changed those I haven't had any problems with the engine surging at cruise speed.
I still haven't found my suspension noise. I did buy some new moog sway bar endlinks awhile back. From what I remember they are thicker than the original ones. I thought those might be hitting the control arm. There looks like to be a little mark on the control arm but still not sure about that. There is only about 1/8" gap between the endlink and control arm. I was wondering if anyone could see about there endlinks gap with the control arm.
One last thing. I wanted to thank Davaro for his reply of great wisdom.
