My engine wont start. the battery is fine and the people at advanced auto told me to bring in my starter. I think I know where it is but I am not sure. somebody please help me find it thanks.
Is this a V6 or an I4? If it's a V6, look below the air filter box, for a cylinder-shaped thing, with one thick wire (from the + battery terminal) and one thin wire attached to it. I don't know exacty where it is on an I4, but if you follow the + battery lead, you will find it.
Thanks for the help. I have a 4 cylinder so I don't know if it is in that spot or not. That picture looks like a v6 but I will check there anyway. I will look for the battery wire too if it isn't there.
I checked and the wire does go to where you said. The problem is that the intake box is blocking it and I don't know how to take that thing out to get to it. I can try but I am afraid I'm going to screw it up.
Just make sure you reattach everything. There's a phillips head screw on the end of the throttle body that attaches the black plastic elbow. It'd probably be easiest to remove that as well. Just unscrew it and it should slide off the end of the throttle body. There is 1 vacuum line attaching to the box, make sure you don't forget to reattach that as well a harness plug to the MAF. Other than that you're good to go
Dont be afraid to dig in there, the air box will not be hard to get out. A starter is an easy job so dont get too worried about it.
Welcome to the boards by the way.

I got the intake out, and the starter was not there. I guess they put them in different spots on 4 cylinder. I can't see the battery line so unless someone knows where the starter is on the 4 cylinder I guess I have to take it to a mechanic. thanks for the help though.
Don't take it to a mechanic. Give me a couple minutes, I'll find it for you. It looks like it's on the firewall side of the transaxle ie transmission. I'll post up a diagrahm in a sec, I just have to scan it in.
Well I will give you a heads up. In the haines manual it asks you to remove your air intake duct and housing, judging from the pics I have, its probably under there somewhere, if david cant get you what you need I will write out the entire procedure step by step for ya.
Thanks. Where are the housing and the duct? Is the housing the box? and I guess the ducts would be the 3 tubes coming from it. I didn't see it down there.
