Need help! Car wont run!

I have been searching for hours and looking under the hood forever too.

Long story short, car is a 95 ford probe gt we swapped a mazda engine in it from a japanese engine place. I believe it was from a Eunos or millenia or whatever. Anyways we put the stock probe intake manifold on it. We went through everything. All new rubber hoses and new fuel filter, new timing belt, water pump etc.

The car will start and run but wont idle and feels as though it is bogging out. The car is up on jack stands untill we get it running good so I haven't driven it yet.

There is a grey connector with a WHITE wire and a RED wire. located near the VAF and fuel filter and cruise control that we cannot find where it goes. We're hoping this is the problem. Can someone please help us out? Any pics would be great.

We cant set the ignition timing perfect just yet because we can get the car to even stay running.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Use this 1993-1995 Engine Controller Malfunction Codes to check for codes. That may tell you what's wrong.

The connector may be for the Idle Air Control. It plugs into the thottle body from below/front.

We figured out the connector it went to the transmission and was for the torque converter.

We got it to drive and everything.

However it still wont stay running. We had the tps set right, the timing is good, it runs better with the VAF DISCONNECTED. it will actually stay running without me giving it gas. Or it will stay running if someone is outside pushing the VAF FULLY OPEN. That is when it runs best.

We dont want to but might have to take it to a shop. We replaced both 02 sensors.

Anyone in the auburn WA area that would like to make a few extra bucks for getting it fixed?

Thanks

Maybe a vacuum leak? That might explain why it will run better with the VAF disconnected, because if there is a vacuum leak after the VAF, the VAF when closed will give a misleading signal about the amount of air entering the engine. Look for a hose that isn't hooked up, especially around the back of the IM.

Id recheck all the vacuum lines like nick said. Get a manual and look at where they all go.

sounds like you have an intake leak after MAF. Or the MAF is bad. Did you replace throttlebody gasket??
