no required, but I assume you're installing a KLZE for the extra power, right? lower octane gas will not give you as much power, thus defeating some of the purpose. Also, I'm not sure if pre-detonation occurs with lower octane gas, but why risk it?
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The man who had nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -John Stuart Mill
agreed ghostling, when i first got this car, my dad once put in 87 octane since the old RS took that, and i thought I had fouled spark plugs until i found the receipt/culprit

the ZE can run 89 octane just fine. with gas prices the way they are right now, that's what i've been running in mine for the past 5 months and it runs perfectly.
Check the condition of your plugs every once in a while with different octane gases. In the winter I use 87 and the plugs are a nice light brown. When it gets warmer, the plugs get whiter and I have to switch to midgrade. Unless you're taking it to the track, I don't think you need premium.
The only thing I have to say about cheap gas is...I use it in my 2005 Astro work van everyday...and every year I have to replace the fuel filter because it gets clogged up. A new filter is only $10...so I don't care too much. I don't know if going to a higher grade would help it any...or if all the tanks at the gas stations are just full of crap?
Tired of burning up in your 6, my Mx6 has vent temps in the low 30's....I have the solution...Transform your 6 from a sweat box..into an ICE BOX.
you can feel the difference, well i can feel it when i put regular!, it feels rough and slow and it shakes bad, when i add premium!!, it feels like it breathes and respond alot!!!alot!!! quicker!!!
Chuck Norris played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.
yeah Id start pointing fingers at the componets before the fuel filter, before assuming is the gas station's gas.

yeah I dont think thats normal. Try a tune up? adjust the timeing?
The gas shouldnt make that big of a difference.
