Sounds like the rear 02 sensor

Tired of burning up in your 6, my Mx6 has vent temps in the low 30's....I have the solution...Transform your 6 from a sweat box..into an ICE BOX.

It might be some sort of EGT or temp probe...I know the JDM cars don't have OBD2...which is where the rear o2 sensor comes......It has to be some sort of temp probe if it's going into the exhaust and has a wire hooked to it.

Some North American mx6s have 4 o2 sensors, but I don't know how many a jspec one can have, so be sure it's not an o2 sensor first, I suppose. Someone else had a light coming on their jspec 6 that had to do with the catalytic, so that might have to do with that 'barrel'.
