Possible to sew seam back together on leather seat?

My drivers side leather side is totally split along the seam closest to the drivers side door. It looks like I could sew it back together if I had the right threat and needle, anyone have any ideas on where I could find this type of thread/needle? any better ideas? the seat also has a big hole in it

My mom used to work as a seamstress for upholstery and leather jackets. The only way I've ever seen her sew leather is with an inside seam, then a stitch on either side of the seam for extra strength (which also holds the folds of the inside seam flat). You would be better off to remove the seat cover and do it right. Just stitching it up from the top side would look horrible, and produce a very weak joint that would be prone to tearing the leather.

Do it right, and you won't be disappointed.

I stitched mine before. It held for a year or two. I used a curved needle and some strong string.
