Sway Bar Broken HELP!
Hello,
Fellow MX-6 drivers, My car was almost towed I paid 100 dollars to drop my car off the truck. The same night the car was making noises coming from the rear side underneath me. I was only able to find this wrong with the car. (hood is bent on the sway bar link) They did try to tow it from the back BTW. ![]() ![]() Then I take it to him he tells me that hes been towing cars for years and the tow truck could not had of done this. So anyway he tries to bang this part straight. And he broke the other side blaming that the part is old. Is it okay that I drive with that part broken, or should I fix it? This is it before him banging it. ![]() This is after. ![]() I spoke to several people and I'm getting mixed results from Its really important to its not even important. I figure I ask the experts. I plan on driving 3 hours to Pennsylvania this weekend please let me know your honest opinion. Thank you in advance! -Mr NYSE |

If the end links are broken, it's not a big deal...I would still fix it as soon as you have time, but that trip shouldn't be a problem.
I'm a little confused by your comment that "the hood is bent on the sway bar link"...I don't understand what that means. It's obvious in the first and second pic that the sway bar had slid to the side by the shiny bit on the bar, and after he banged it in, it's pretty much centered. The stablilizer link probably did break because of age, but that doesn't mean it's not his fault...not sure you'll get much out of him, but he did take $100 off you, so give it a shot. |

Your handling will be off, so don't push it hard in a turn or in corners. Many cars were made without swaybars. I doubt you will have any real safety issue with it like this.

I drove with the rear bar disconnected and it just amplifies understeer. It's not dangerous but it's no fun either.
Do your self a favor and buy Altima links (< search). They are much cheaper and built better. |

It's OK to drive sure. I'd take off that broken endlink though, just so it doesn't bang into anything.

your fine driving without endlinks, though you should have it replaced as soon as possible. For a cheaper replacement option try the altima endlinks or I offer upgraded endlinks. You can find those in the hot deals forum.
