New Engine... No compression

Good Morning Ya'll

I just recently bought an engine from a member here on the board, and needless to say i ran into a pretty serious problem. The engine I bought is "Claimed" to have a Flatlander 10:1 high compression piston kit, interprep valve work, ported valves, upgraded oil pump, etc... I just installed the motor and at first it seemed that it wanted to start, but after many failed attempts my mechanic and I suspected that something was off.

In the picture you can see that the piston heads are crashing into the plugs???? This causes the plugs to close and send no spark and make a proper combustion. I tried using smaller plugs from an 89 Chevy Cavalier ( I know they are not meant for a V6 but they had the smallest thread, and would not crash with the piston heads) but to no avail. I have never heard or seen this before... And the worst part is that i get 0! compression from all cylinder banks with the cavalier plugs. When she had the MX6 plugs she at least made a sucking sound and i got somewhat compression, with the cavalier plugs all you hear is the starter motor working. The timing is dead on we double checked it. the only thing missing to install is the belts from the Underdrive pulley and altenator, but nonetheless she should still start. I'm going to check the timing of the valves, maybe there is something I missed.

Any input that you guys might have would be helpful

***UPDATE****

Spoke with a tech at Flatlander racing, and he claimed that he doesn't know anything about why my plugs would touch the Piston heads, or why would it have low compression on a "semi-new rebuild".

Chuck Norris played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.

Looks like the new pistons are too tall...hopefully your valves didn't get damaged. You should be able to check compression still, no?

Was this Antval's motor?

It's strange you're not getting any sort of compression. That could mean bent valves. Have you checked the timing belt to make sure everything is timed correctly?

Did you not take off the heads before you installed it?

we are going to disassemble the heads soon, hopefully i don't have bent valves. I'm still puzzled by the whole pistons being too tall? how in the world did the last guy get it to run?

yes it is, We didn't take the heads off because the seals were "New" so we didn't want to replace or damage anything there. Timing was double checked but I'm going disassemble the heads and look for bent valves or anything. The compression needle didn't even move.

I'm getting valve interference as well, all my intake valves are bent.

I will begin parting out this engine and car this week

I was thinking of throwing in an offer for that engine a while back too. Dang, sucks to see it didn't work out for you. I wonder what the heck happened to it for it be striking plugs and bending valves?!

DAMN! That's horrible man, what a shot in the ass. It sucks it can't be saved, though i'm sure with tons more money it'd be alright... either way I agree it's better to part ways with it and start fresh.

Are you going to keep looking for a new engine? What's your next step?
