center cap over rear wheel bearings

I'm planning on replacing these bearings. I haven't figured out how to get the caps off that cover the bearing on the hub. It's like they are welded on. Is there a trick to getting them off without mashing them ?

I've never done them on an MX6, but usually I get a large flathead screwdriver, hammer it in between the cap and the hub, working slowly around the circumference of the cap, gently prying the cap off.

It comes off pretty easily if you go from the opening in the dust cover to get a better angle at the dust cap.
