Has anyone come across a better option for the lower control arms? My ball joints have play in them, its not a lot yet. I have replaced both sides already and this would make the second time. I would like a stronger ball joint and I also plan on poly bushings this time around.

Car set for over a year and someone stole the CAI, nice of them. Just replaced very noisy friction gear springs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWeBUmLmAOM . Next project is to program a micro controller to convert GM MAF signal to a 0-7v signal that mimics our VAFs.
The control arms have been on the car since around 07, but there haven't been a great deal of miles put on them. However they have had some hard driving on them. The car also set for a good year.

I just did the Mazda control arms and then put polyurethane bushings. But I figured that the ball joints were amazing and lasted 150k miles. But they were almost 200$ a piece
Mine are aftermarket control arms and I'm unsure of the manufacturer, so I can't say if they are even quality parts :/

I didn't think our ball joints were serviceable? Otherwise I would have already done this.

If you have a press, you can press out the old ones.. rarely they will hammer right out if pinched in a vice correctly. That or bring them to a shop that can press them out. Ive replaced a few with these
The new ones press back in and have a snap ring to secure them
Yeh, we have a hydraulic press in the shop and we even have a ball joint press in the tool bin. Like every other shop I've worked at though we don't have crap for press plates. That's not pricy at all for a Moog ball joint.

I know surprisingly prices have dropped on several parts. When I did my friction gear springs a few weeks ago I noticed a leaking timing belt tensioner and about went through the roof. The last time I checked prices at the parts store they were $150-$180, 5 or 6 years ago, but now they are $75.

im running one from rock auto for like 60 or so bucks.. came with bushings and ball joint. I figure if you can get them that cheap just replaced the entire control arm. Its far less work than pressing the ball joint out and you get new bushings too!
i ran one of these on my turbo car for a couple years and never had a problem. They fit well and are cheap.

Built buy Me, ebay and zip ties.
The only thing is I plan on poly bushings when the arm comes off, so new bushings aren't really a plus since they are going to be pressed out anyway. The fact that I have all the tools to press them out makes it easier also.
