another question. about my trans, when i take off in first, you can hear a slight whining noise that progressively gets to a higher pitch the faster i move. it almost sounds like a faint dog box trans. is this normal?
Its a five speed right? It might be a be a throw out bearing?
Yeah its a 5 speed. And idk, it almost sounds like gears humming at a high pitch. Also if I shift any higher than 2500rpm from 3rd to 4th, it will grind. 1st as well. I have to be basically stopped to put it back into 1st.
maaaaaannnnnn, just more stuff to replace lol. i mean, it seems as if the trans is fine, just grinds in 4th at a mid-high rpm range. and 1st unless im practically stopped. i dont even shift into 4th anymore anyways, 4th gear is over so fast during normal driving, so i just go from 3rd to 5th.
Maybe you could replace synchros instead? Idk how but I'm sure someone could walk you through it. I know how you feel, these cars get trashed and people like us have to fix the mistakes

that will have to come down the road, unless its a straightforward job to do.
yeah you'll get that with every older car. at some point in its life, someone has dogged the hell out of it.
try checking your tranny oil. low oil will cause gear whine
Lol wow i didnt even think about that to be honest.

doing it in the morning. i drove a little more today because the tick was still there, it comes and goes. hopefully the oil change helps.
but i was looking at some youtube videos and came accross this video of a guy saying his ticking is coming from a cracked valve spring retainier. although his is a klze. idk if that completely matters or not, but his tick is much similar to mine.
