Urgent help please!!!!

Hi guys new member here
Im looking at an MX-6 that i really like. Im in New Zealand, dont know if that will help
Anyway, on the wing it says 2.5 V6
Now a 2.5 is a little big for me as i want good fuel consumption, petrol is a fortune here!!!
The woman has told me it has had a 2L fitted and the 2.5 taken out!
After searching for the last couple of hours it seems it will be hard to tell the difference visually apart from a few minor details only know by a select few enthusiasts!
I beg and plead with any said enthusiasts that may be reading this to help me! i really like this car but dont want it if its a 2.5.
Ive tried to upload some photos so hopefully youll see them bellow!!
Thanks in advance!

That is a 6 cylinder engine, which is a 2.5 l.

But they get good gas mileage also ! Around 22 mpg city and 27 highway.

The 2 litre V6 motors are easily available here in NZ. You will need to find the engine number on the engine block to tell what you have, they look visually the same. I think that the number would be KF, rather than KL. I don't know if a 2 litre would return much better economy than a 2.5, it may be working harder than the larger motor. I believe that the 2 litre V6 was available in Japan for tax reasons.
That mileage quoted above would be pretty terrible here, we are used to mileage quoted with imperial gallons (4.54 l to an imp gallon) rather than US gallons (3.78 l to a US gallon). We use metric here.

It may be a KF 2.0 litre V6. The fuel economy is indeed a bit better than the KL 2.5 litre. I can get 40mpg imperial with my KF on long runs doing about 60-70 mph, if I'm careful. (Though mine is the JDM KF-ZE, which has higher compression than the KF-DE.)

If you look down on the rear of the engine, just behind the power steering pump, near the timing belt cover (look down from the top, using a torch/flashlight) you can just see the engine number on a metal tab that juts out of the block. If it starts with "KF", that's the 2.0 litre

The production line had the 2.5 l v6 KL engine for New Zealand (e spec). If the car
has the 2.5 l badge, and has 6 cylinders, why would there be reason to think the
engine is something different than a 2.5 l v6 KL engine ?

We also have a large number of MX6s imported second hand from Japan, the used Japanese import market is very big here, as new cars here are relatively expensive.
