Angry Damn expensive estimates

I took my GFs car in to get estimates for a clutch and to get the ac fixed. I thought the AC would just be the compressor because the compressor started to tick and then one day the ticking stopped along with the cold air. AC estimate=$1100

I know it needs a new clutch so I got an estimate for that too=$670

How much can I get a stock clutch for? Is there an upgraded one for around the same price that doesn't have a much strong clutch pedal? Let me know, thanks.

fixes

sounds expensive, sorry man.
try rafi's site for upgraded clutch parts, www.rr-racing.com I think.

as far as the AC, I had mine redone last summer, price was 1100 just for the compressor if I went with a new one. Somehow they found a remanufactured one for 600, it was about 900 when all the work and dryer, evaporator, etc. were all replaced. Still trying to pay that credit card off. . .

MODS?!?! All my money goes to keeping this b!tch running. Beyond that, keyless entry, tinted windows, cleaned the headlights, Rafi's front mount inserts, 143,000k. Oh yeah, the standard "NGK plugs and wires" Hose techniques SVH

Sounds like your a/c might just need charging, the compressor will be shutting off if not enough freon is in the system. I would try that first, may be all you need. As for clutch, can't help there.

dazed and confused

Well if a stock one is $170+, then I might as well get an upgraded one for $175 from South Bend Clutch or whatever.
