ignition problem!!quick response needed!!

i bought my mx6 4 cyl exactly a week ago...and last sunday(3 days after it was bought) the ignition decided to uit on me...the starter motor is rollin...but the engine isnt catchin...we checked plug #1 and #2 and both arent firing...the cap and rotor were newly replaced...so im guessing its the ignition module...but i dont want to buy it without much thought be cause it will set me back $310 ($360 - $50 for old module) and there are of course no refunds...i asked jus in case

ive been searching the net and this forum for a reasonable answer but havent seemed to reach a sensible conclusion...ive read alot of your posts about the msd igntion system...but was wondering if that can replace the ignition module...or is that just a bolton to the original module???
sorry for the long post and please give me som answers!!!

ohm the coil, check to see if the PCM is commanding the coil ground, check to see if the disty is sending the signals it should to the PCM... do you have any codes?

4 cyls dont have a crank sensor... we have 2 cam sensors...

anyway, the hall effect transistors in the disty send cam and crank position information to the PCM, the PCM, by way of the igniter driver grounds the coil inside the disty at the dwell point and then opens it at the time (specified by the ignition curve, programed in the PCM) in degrees when the spark should be fired. the opening of this transistor causes the field in the primary coil to collapse around the secondary coil and induce a voltage, usually between 5 and 15 kV at idle. the disty delivers the voltage spike to whichever cylinders respective disty cap electrode is closest... fire
