For those that had to ever change their

CV joint boot who actually changed the whole axle, which brand did you go with and how good would you say the part is? One of my CV boots recently went so I have grease all over my wheel and whereever else it ended up spewing out. =(

I first checked the OEM parts from the dealer and almost fainted when I heard the price quotes. A dealer quoted me $280 JUST to replace the boot!#@#%@#! What the... It's not a Ferrari for crying our loud. How can a piece of plastic + labor cost that much? How is this for ripoff. Just the CV joint from the dealer for one side is about $260. Add labor and they'll probably ask $500 per side. The axle for one side is about $550!

Okay. When I saw this, I said forget that, I'll look at some aftermarket parts. I am looking at replacing the whole axle right now because it just makes sense to do it at this point. Two brands that look good are the GCK for around $110 (New) and the Beck/Arnley for about $100 (remanufactured) the same price. Anyone have experience with either of these brands? Are they good?

Thanks

I bought an aftermarket CV boot from Mazda for $60, then found that I could get the same one for $35 at another shop.
I would keep shopping around if I were you...

I replaced both of my axles........one had a torn boot.........they were around a hundred a piece....at AutoZone. I just hope it is your driver's side...........the passenger side took forever (about 5 hours), don't remember why it took so long but it sucked.
