I went to the Mazda dealer today and the guy asked me which bushings I need, the ones under the gearbox or the ones near the transmission. I asked if there was a difference, he said yah, they're different sizes. He pulled some out and showed them to me. The white one was bigger, which is the ones for right under the stick. Maybe you guys got the bushings for the other spot.
My question is - I dont have access to a lift or *anything*, just a jack. Think I'd be safe enough using a crappy jack to jack the car up, remove the heat shield, and do all this without having the car fall and crush me? Or should I just take it to some place? |

94 PoS 4-banger...that I was told was a V6 and have no proof so Im screwed with it. And it has $1800 in repairs in the last 2 months. Did I mention I bought it for $2000 over KBB?

you should use a jack stand or at the very least....cinderblock(sp?). i wouldnt trust just a jack. the dealership told me the same thing about the bushings. i ended up getting the ones just for the shifter and they do fit fine so im happy.

Well the bolts on my heatshield are totally rusted and wont budge without breaking, so I have to get them cut and have new ones welded on. And peaking above the heatshield at the linkage, it is ALSO totally [fizzle]ing rusted. Like rust growing on it like wild algae. *sigh*
