Angry sunroof closing

Hey guys,

When opening my sunroof, everything looks and sounds ok. The problem is closing it, although it does close, it gets really, I mean really, slow.

Just BEFORE it goes into the final stage, when it tilts down at the end, it slows down and then it picks up again when it does its final tilt. Anyone with these problems before? What do you guys think? I love using my sunroof, especially with the windows down and the tunes up, so please help. (oh ya, and the girlfriend love the sunroof the most about the car .)

Well 2nd Gen Sunroofs are a problem, i think everyone sooner or later develops the same problem your having.

Some say grease the rails, other say you need to re-align the roof and others will say there is nothing you can do apart from take it to get looked at..

I myself dont know what to think..mine started like yours and well got worse and now makes alot of noise when closing...to the point where it sounds like its going to blow up...

Im taking mine to get looked at ASAP....do the same if i was you.

ok now

well, when i was washing the car on the weekend my dad told me to try to clean out the tracks and apply new grease to it. I used a q-tip and some wd-40 to clean out the wheels and track and then applyed some new grease around the wheels and along the track, and is now working fine.

I think i messed it up when i was racing an older talon and my sunroof was open and i took the car up to 140 km/h. in our manuel it says not to have the sunroof open when taking the car over 100 km/h b/c it ruins it. I smoked him anyway so it was worth it.

thanks for your help

peace
H

Holy crap...

we're not supposed to exceed 140km/hr with it open?
No wonder my roof isn't closing well, i go faster then that on a day to day basis....

Hopefully that grease thing works...

Thanks,
Claeren.

100km/hr!!!! I guess I shouldn't have hit 240km/hr with it open then.

My sunroof has been a problem since I got my car 5 months ago. I finally took it apart and both of the tracks are loose as hell. I guess the wind at such high speeds rattled it loose. I have solved the problem though, I disconnected the switch. After too many wet rides home in the rain with a sunroof that wont close.

hey guys, mine did the same thing for a while but i stopped using for about three weeks and it works fine now. another reason it could be doing that is that the motor could be going bad like my antenna motor did...
