ok. Yea, I mean t_dubb, I am saying I want my car to be as quick as yours. but I don't want to spend the $ on the motor and have it run worse than the motor I replace.

With an OBDII MX-6, there are three options to set to jspec power, two of which you guys have already mentioned:

(1) convert to OBDI
(2) Megasquirt

And then there's

#3: Attach MSD Window Switches (one per VRIS) and an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. The Window switch allows you to manually correct the VRIS points by setting what RPM you want it to open and close at. This is what the Digital MSD Window switches [part #8969] look like (which is what I have):

There is also a non-digital version, which comes with "pills." The pills are like chips that are preprogrammed what RPM to open/close at, so for example, you buy the non-digital switch, and then a 4000 pill and a 6800 pill. I didn't buy that cuz for one, it's added expense of buying everything separately, and two, with the digital one, i can set the open and close points on the fly to whatever i want, so if i wanted the vris to stay open until 7000RPM, i could set it to that in 5 seconds. The MSD switches can be mounted either under the hood or inside the cabin, depending.

The Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator (AFPR) is used to correct the amount of fuel the KLZE takes, cuz it's different than stock. On the ZE, you can set it between 40 to 45 psi, depending on what kind of fuel economy/performance you want. I got the Cosmo one off Ebay, it comes as a kit with everything included and it was recommended to me by Mx6.com veterans dsr30, Chrismazdamx6 squirt_0801 and sethbobbob.

I personally haven't connected this stuff yet, but will in the spring.
Contact sethbobbob to ask how easy/hard it was, because he has this set up hooked up and running perfectly.

If you come down to the frostburg area, you can check out the ze motor in my 96 pgt. It's running on the stock ecu with baker electronix window switches for the vris, and all the egr is hooked up except for the tube on the intake thats missing on the ze intake. It gives me a cell light but it can be fixed.

I had Travis Williams do it for me, because we used my brother in laws garage, and he sold his house and garage, so it had to be done in less than 2 days. Travis said he could do in 1 day and he did. Cost me 1000, but that was pull the old motor, swap over the new timing system, water pump, etc. off the de motor that, i just put on it 1 month before, complete mantiance. I installed the window switches myshelf.

For one, I do know a good bit. I read all the time, I read damn near everything I can get my hands on about the KL. But you have to remember there is VERY few people on here that discribe what it is, they just talk about it.

Also, who said I was doing the swap myself? Not me. I have a good friend that can help me if I have problems or might even be willing to drive the 2 hours to come help me out if I am willing to go help him with a little bodywork.

So, thanks for the thought, but that is why I asked, I asked so I can findout HOW they work and where they are. I understand what they do, I would just like a little more info. So could you point me in the direction of some good reading?

Also, I am not stupid, I have rebuilt a few motors, taken them out(neons) Hell I changed my starter in Uni-Mart parkinglot the other day. I'm not some stupid kid that never even working on a 6. I am just not very electricly knowledgable or have gotten that deep into the 6.

So I guess my point is, give some helpfull info or don't post. In all honesty guys, I am seeing why some of my fav. memebers that I really respect around here are taking "breaks" from the forum.
