Question Help

I have a Mazda MX 6 1994 v6, About one week ago the distributor died, I replace the distributor, then about three days ago the car began to run extremely rough you would give it the gas, it would go absolutely nowhere. If you put the car in neutral and give it the gas slowly you can rev it all away to 5000 RPMs. if you depress the throttle quickly it will immediately stall out or will not run above 500 RPMs, if you try to drive the car it will begin backfiring and will not travel over 15 miles an hour, the car seems like it has plenty of fuel pressure I began to unplug sensors and had no result the engine light is not on. A friend of mine says it could be the distributor, even though it is brand-new.
Help

Hi Steve

Did you reset the ECU after the Disty swap?

Also, check the ECU for error codes by following the instructions on this page> 1993-1995 Engine Controller Malfunction Codes.

The ignitor inside the disty is very prone to failure, so it is possible that your replacement disty's ignitor is also bad.
The HEI mod will sort the ignitor problem out at a fraction of a new disty's cost. Check it out>
