I have yet to get and official time with mine but I can tell you they are much faster than 14.7. That is what I ran with my last car a 97 Mustang GT with lower gears no cats, shift kit,K&N catback, Underdrive pulleys. My ZE with the proper Probinator chip and bolt ons listed is much faster. I would predict at least a 14.2? Probably better? I have outrun 2 S2000 Honda's and they are a low 14 to high 13 cars.

93 LS- KLZE, Underdrive pulley, SS Autochrome Headers, CAI, R-R Poly mount inserts, Probinator ECU mod, Test Pipe, Dodge Stratus R/T 17"wheels.

Toy: 64 VW bug, Building a 2017cc Stroker motor. Should be low 14 second car.

14.7 is slow for that mustang with those mods. but yeah id say ze is low 14s on a good day with a good driver.

97 GT's start out at 215hp. They weigh with an Automatic - 3300 pounds. They actually have a worse power to weight ratio than our MX6 DE's even. Their only saving grace is their near 300 ft lbs. of torque which makes them about as fast as the MX6 DE. So a stock Auto is maybe a 15.3 car. If an Automatic GT that is stock pulls up to you nodding their heads, even with a DE, don't be scared.

You see so many people on this site running in the 15's or so on this site. So many little things can effect our car's performance. Basicly just making sure your car is tuned up. I noticed that if I run any spark plug other than an ngk they go bad quickly. My car's quarter mile time has been effected just by having different distributors. Even though the distributor runs perfectly fine. Any check engine light will retard timing and make your car run rich. The fuel pressure regulator's go bad and make the car run rich or lean. Of course alot of people don't run the proper ecu's on the ze's. Also almost every ZE is pretty much a junk yard motor, most people don't maintain ze's in japan since they have to usually scrap cars after 60,000ish miles there. And finally alot of people just plain can't drive, They over-rev or under rev the motor when racing. Thats all that comes to mind at the moment.

I would say that while what you listed is very true, it counts for other cars as well not just ZE's. But yer, I see your point now

Alex and the 5.0

Alex,
The 97's were a bit different with a 4.6 Modular and about the same hp. I think stock to stock the 4.6 was just a hair faster because they rev'd better. I killed 5.0's allot with my 97 GT. I also had a 94 DE with some minor bolt ons and could hang with stock or Flowmastered 5.0 GT's (Like all of them it seems.) I have yet to get a chance to run a 96-04 GT with my new older (93) with the KLZE. My son has a 95 MX6 LS with a K&N, UR Pulley, and a Dynomax Superturbo and it is not even a race. After only a few weeks after dropping in the ZE an 05 GT Stang jumps on it in front of me at a light. I follow suit and he sees me but he cannot pull from me and in fact it seemed to me that I had peddle it slightly afraid to run up on his butt. We ran all the way through 3rd and just after 4th and I let off as we were like at 85-90 on a 45 mph blvd. Don't want to die yet. The new gen Stangs are low 14 cars as well so that is another indicator of the ZE's performance.
