What is the best performance muffler

97 LS with stock(ugly rusty pipes)exhaust. I don't really care about the performance as much, the eunos 800 has plenty of get up and go.

Any suggestions for a muffler.

There is no such thing as a performance muffler. There are [shizzle] mufflers though, they are called stock on old 90s cars. Go to a performance exhaust shop, tell him you have a small say $100 budget. And get the muffler design he reccommends.

hooker aero chamber is good. throaty with 2.5 piping. muffler was only 65 bux and have a shop bend you piping. i only paid like 200 for everything. but if your budget is less, then just replace it with a stock exhaust.

No muffler at all with a little venting device ran by electricity to force the engine gas to exit the exhaust faster

Seriously I have no clues. I've heard muffler doesn't restrict air flow very much and you buy them only to get a nice sound?

Hooker aero chamber. Sounds good and is straigh through so no corners to turn and restrict flow.

A muffler wont improve "air"/exhaust flow that much but it is not hard to build a very restrictive one. Choosing muffler is pretty much purely based on sound and quality(as in is it going to last more then 1 year of not getting rusted out quality). Most aftermarket mufflers are stainless steel anyway so shouldnt be a drama.

I went to Canadian tire and got a Magnaflow. I cut off the old muffler at the axle, used the old hanger bars. I had to weld the adapter to the Magnaflow muffler as it did not seem too close a fit for the muffler clamp to work. I also welded the 2" extension pipe at 5' so that the muffler hangs right and up high like the stock ones do. I hate the look of a s.steel muffler hanging 3" off the ground.

The sound was great. A deep tone on heavy acceleration. The Magnaflow seems to drown out the short ram intake sound from the engine.
