Need suspension help really bad guys....
Okay, can someone please answer this question for me...
Can I use my Ground Control coilovers with KYB GR2 struts? I've been told yes a hundred times, but the mechanic who has my car right now says no. He says I cannot lower my car with the GR2s. Please shine some light on this for me. Thanks guys, Carrie |

technically you can. BUT since the GR2's are practically OEM replacements, the GC's will blow them in no time. so yeah. maybe thats why he says you cant...

Yes you have to mod the strut, you will have to cut the perch off. I would find a link for you but im on my PDA, so just search the forum its been done. A good example for doing so is Gavin's threads on suspension(the 1g suspension dude). But i wouldn't use the GR2s just for the simple fact that they are OE replacement and will blow out prematurely, and wasting time on moding them just to replace them again is just pointless IMO
Never mind i found it faster then i thought i would: http://www.mx6.com/forums/1g-faq-sus...ml#post1295605 (Koni insert installation) |

Yup that's it. I had Tokico Illuminas with the GC's on it and the illuminas were blown so in the fall I put stock suspension on it for the winter and they were off our parts car and ended up being trash too. Right now my suspension's so [fizzle]ed that it's like having no suspension at all. So I haven't actually had the car lowered since the end of last summer. I guess having it fixed is all that really matters right now. Maybe next year I'll worry about getting something better and lowering it a bit.

You don't NEED to cut the perches off the struts. You only have to do that if you really want to sink your car. If you're going with a mild drop the perches can stay.

If you cut the perches off the illuminas then the warranty is void. This is the reason I left my perches intact.
