The 6 community is attempting to find out whether or not the CX-7 brakes are compatible or not. I am personally going to look at a set of CX-7 brakes this weekend, so we may be 1 step closer to finding that out.
The Mazda6 uses a 15" spare. Assuming it has similar interior dimensions as a full sized rim, it should fit the MX-6 15"s, but no guarantees.
I have stock LS 15" wheels on the front with the 11.1" brakes and theres plenty of room. Still no guaranties but I wouldn't hesitate if the 11.8" brakes came up cheap.

Given the cost of going Mazdaspeed6 here in Australia I think I'll stck to my hybrid setup!

If it's any cheaper look at the mazda 5 minivan brakes. Identical to the MS6 brakes.

I just saw a mazda 3 sedan stock looking with speed 3/6 brakes. I wonder if the are optional on mon MS cars?

Nah no Mazda5 here, well nothing with big brakes!
The big twin-spot calipers are currently in Melbourne and will be here next week, my 300mm rotors are in the garage, the 330mm rotors are in transit from the US (AUD250/pr was a huge bargain) and shoudl be here within days.
Lets just say that the CAD software is smoking hot and we're so close to having stuff all drawn up and mock-ups made for testing once the parts are all here.

So my rear brakes are metal to metal... I have read every (well, almost every) thread returned from searching "rear rotor" "rear brakes" "protege rear", and now my brain is numb...
Can someone please clear this up for me (and hopefully for others)... are these the three "OEM" options for the rear brakes?
1) 98+ V6 626: rotor, pads, and caliper bracket (since our calipers fit in this bracket) and the e-brake should be OK.
2) 99-03 Protege: calipers, rotors, pads (and keep the e-brake)
3) Mazda6 options (full set: caliper, rotor, pads, ie. everything) but e-brake modifications is required.
Where does the MS Protege brakes fit in all this? I can't find where I read it, but I thought someone said the MS Protege brakes are identical to the late model 626 brakes... or was it the regular Protege brakes the same as the 626's? me =
I looked into the protege calipers but they're not really an upgrade since they are almost identical to our rear calipers (except they're newer). I'm not sure about the ms protege calipers.
The main thing to remember is to get the caliper brackets on whichever calipers you decide to go with. They make the bigger rotors clear the new caliper.
I'm going to go with the 11.8" mazda6 rotors in the front and 11" 98+ 626 rotors in the rear. I had an estimate of $1300 for brand new rotors, calipers with brackets, pads, and installation.

OK. Cool! I want that set-up too! But I had my front brakes done less than a year ago, so I can't justify doing the upgrade just yet.
I will edit this post with my costs too. I think the shop will use reman'ed parts, except for new rotors, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'll try to snap some photos for S&Gs.
