PaceSetter Cat-Back installation
Hi all, just ordered the Monza catback system. I know I know some of you hate it.
But, that's not my point here. Is there something I should know before starting the installation process (besides normal safety conditions)? Any showstoppers? Thank you |

Dont listen to the haters, its one of the best systems out there! It has a deep tone at idle and then you open it up, it sounds crisp and clean, no weed eaters there. Installation is very easy, I did one myself, bolt off bolt on, just make sure your car has been off and is cold...
The only problems I ran into was getting the tube above the axle, you have to put it in at an very weird angle, so its deffinetly a 2 man, maybe 3 while your trying to hold the exhaust in place and angle everything while bolting it on and tightning the latch clips. Show us some pictures once its done! -Curtis |

The install should be very straightforward. I installed my borla catback in my cousin's garage a few years back. In all honesty, it's easier to cut off the old exhaust piping and muffler. I spent an hour or two on mine trying to fight old rusted bolts. If you aren't able to cut it, start spraying some penetrating grease on it every day. It will make life easier. Also, wear safety glasses. I remember getting a LOT of rust chips in my eyes/hair/mouth.

you'll end up stripping the axle back nuts. the nuts suck. so you might end up hacking some [shizzle] off. be best if you have air tools. PB blaster is your friend and maybe a torch, you can buy those at walmart btw. only [shizzle] part about the monza system is, that it will rust in time. thats it.

UPDATE
Just received the cat-back system. It's in very good shape and the shipping was fast. One thing however, I don't see any little Pacesetter horse on the exhaust tips. Is it normal? And there's a rubber sticker around the other end of the tips (where it's wielded on the muffler). It's yellow and black. Should it be removed? Thanks |

Install is done!
That tone is amazing! I'm not used to it, so I fear the cops hehe ![]() We took a lot of hours trying to remove the old exhaust, but we got it without cutting anything. The new system installed fine. But, right where the pipe has a 90° angle, it hangs very close to the road. Is it normal? There's no hangers at this point to support it. What can I do to fix this? Here's link to some pictures I took. I don't have under-car pictures but they're fine ![]() Pacesetter Cat-Back - Windows Live SkyDrive |
