Go get yourself a cheap timing light. I think I only paid $25 for mine from autozone. Nothing fancy just clamp to battery and number one plug wire.
.l..o_0..l. 93 MX6 LS KLZE w/ Interprep valve srpings and DE retainers, SS headers, Cat delete, Pacesetter catback exhaust, 11lb Flywheel, and Vogtland sport springs around KYB GR2 Struts.
Car set for over a year and someone stole the CAI, nice of them. Just replaced very noisy friction gear springs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWeBUmLmAOM . Next project is to program a micro controller to convert GM MAF signal to a 0-7v signal that mimics our VAFs.
Ill see if I can find one at harbor freight I have some impact sockets I boight with a 1/2" drive when I needed 3/8" drive when I was manic and needed to get this running after I slipped the timing belt tensioner spring.
My next mod... after I make sure I don't have to do this. So far I have swapped out fpr, purge valve, deleted my egr valve and associated vacuum lines swapped fuel rail and injectors and still no success on the ultimate problem. But tomorrow ill see if between the rail, injectors, cap and rotor the thing runs any better.
If its not the ignition control module im moving onto swapping my other tb with iac and tps.
Wired in following the I4 hei mod thread... screwed it down... went to start it... and it started. Excited to see if this does anything other than preventative maintenance.
Yes I will clean up and hide the wiring. As you can see from the pile of red wires I still have to clean up my hid, angel eyes, and fog light wiring!
A few pics of my engine bay. I need to clean up the headlight foglight and angel eye wiring but I cleaned up the hei wiring and moved it to an area by the fuse box. ..
I almost was gonna put the stock cam back in... as a last ditch effort since I was mostly sure my timing was right I tried the smart thing and reset the ecu. I let it sit and just idle for 10 minutes. Then I advance and retarded to distributor timing and found a spot where when the bump in the idle dropped it wouldnt drop to 250rpm or die. That was before the ecu reset....
Ill post a video after it finishes uploading and show you it runs a lot better and the losses I experienced before are gone....
I hate sticker on the outside of the car.... well my car. Mostly because when I see a car with those sticker I think... that part costed that much and this one that much..... etc. And I don't want my car stolen. Thats also the reason I don't do a lot of cosmetic upgrades.
So when I was digging through some stuff and found some stickers, I wanted to put them on the car somwhere but not have them readily visible.
Here was my solution.... Radiator shroud!
Despite popular belief I don't think I will experience any horsepower gain after installation.... probably because they're not on my fenders!
Now to fix the miss.... gonna do yhe tap test to rule out the cpk and found a used ditsy for $50. Worth the gamble to see if its it. If not I can return it.
Got a box of foam from work... already loaded the rear panels by the rear seats... helped significantly... the whole box with the rear panels weighed half as much as a gallon of milk.
We use this stuff to pack microphone cases and sound equipment cases. Its light! I just have have to figure out how to adhere it to the front doors. I took for granted being able to have a conversation with my wife... well sometimes :-)
Also got the afpr installed a while ago... the toom on this engine bay is sweet. Cant wait to clog it up with boost devices!
Recieved my parts ditsy today. First thing after I tore it apart was clean and prep it and the heat shield for paint and then paint. Should help set off the rest of the black parts I have.
In case any one ever want to know what the inside of your distributor looks like....
After painting the old housing and finding out the coil in the other distributor was toast and putting it back together out of time and reassembly and timing wrong again etc. I got most my parts into the new housing and tomorrow im gonna try this crankshaft sensor to see if my steady on cel will shut off, i had to run to school so i didnt want to deal with tearing it down and rebuilding it two more times if this one didnt work.
Long story short. At least the new housing is black and I can once again screw in both screws to hold on the cap. Now im pretty good at disassembly and reassembly. Felt like a seal or something taking apart a gun and putting it back together... shoulda timed myself.
these two plates inside the ditsy have to be aligned. (Note to self)...
Tore into it and aligned them...
They need to be aligned like this. Theres a dimple in both pieces and the smaller piece aligns into the key way to the right of the dimple on the bigger piece.
All put together and painted.
Next cosmetic upgrade will be black header wrap. Head should go in in a few weeks for a valve job.
Havent quite got it patched yet but its a start its powered and lights up just havent got it to recieve a signal. Either a dead o2 sensor. Or patched to the wrong ecu wire...
