I don't post 2g stuff very often, even though the last year and 1/2 I've been playing more with them than 1g's...I've been collecting parts pretty much the whole time.
Earlier in the summer I built what I feel to be the best combo of stock parts into an engine for the best runner, except found out after I started building that the g4 cranks were also lighter. So what I have is the following:
stock KL block, honed, decked, and line bore checked
de crank turned .010/.010
ze pistons and rods
de heads and valvetrain ports cleaned up by me, won't call it "port and polish" but the ex ports were opened up a bit, the intake ports were strictly cleaning of the castings, heads were decked enough to remove the ring around the chambers, but I can't remember how much was shaved
ze cams
g4 intake mani
then externally, homemade cai, ebay headers, and 2 1/4 ex I think, with an ebay muffler.
ran with a stock 94 mx6 ecu
I have pics of the build, but not uploaded yet, just figured I'd post about it,
it was built for an autocross car I've been building, but then my dd spun a rod bearing, so I installed it in the dd. I've never been in a true healthy de, so I can't compare, but compared to the old engine, this one pulls quite a bit harder, but has an extremely smooth powerband. I'll upload the pics next week or this weekend, and maybe get a vid of it driving.
For anyone else contemplating ze compression with de/g4 around it, it is recommended, best thing was all the parts were just collected, so when I decided to go with it, there was very little out of pocket...basically machinework, gaskets and bearings...
inside it works more like the ze mani, but still has the oval ports...I actually installed it prior to the motor listed here, and it was the only change when it was installed and it was a very noticeable change
The shape of the ports on the IM match the shape of the de heads.

they're both the best of their own worlds kinda thing, I'm using oval port heands, so I used the g4 mani, had I run the square port ze heads, I would have used the straight neck mani that's in my garage...but I voted this setup for this engine, and the ze heands/mani on the boosted one.
I may get some of it in the car this week, I would very much like to get a vid of like a 1-2-3 pull or something. The headers were just for the pics, as I only have 1 set of the shorty's, and they were already in the car
I've gotten the chance to see and hear this car run. It makes good noises. The kind that grab your attention from 1/4 mile away.
Form Follows Function. If it doesn't work, get it the f--- out. A RaceCar Named Carmen

Nice! You did a good job cleaning up the block and heads.
What you use as a degreaser? Simple green?
